I agree on your view on the stock maps, but please lets remember that server2 is the customs server, and no need to get a map "packed" with players (ie battery), some maps are ... |

berserk (tedious for axis, boring for allies after railgun 30min torture)
Oasis (some times I like, some times I hate)

| i had that problem, solved reinstalling videocard drivers and tweking the video settings of ET (lighting, shading, etc) |
